The Gulf of Thailand liveaboard diving
Scuba diving around Koh Tao,
Koh Phangnan, Koh Samui and Ang Thong
Liveaboard: Sampai Jumpa
From May until September, the best diving is in the Gulf of Thailand
- situated on the east side of Thailand.
We, at Worldwide Dive and Sail, venture towards the beautiful Gulf,
and begin our Thailand liveaboard safari at the popular, tropical
island of Koh Tao. We sail to the world famous Ang Thong National
Marine Park where some scenes of the popular film, 'The Beach' were
made.

The marine park consists of a group of spectacular limestone monoliths
soaring from the sea and carved into remarkable shapes by years of
erosion. A popular visit is to the island of Koh Mae Ko which has
an enclosed lagoon called Thale Nai (Inner Sea), surrounded by overhanging
cliffs, thick with vegetation, and connected to the open sea only
by an underground cave.

Afterwards, we sail our luxury liveaboard towards the Diver's Mecca
of Koh Tao comprising of many unique, fascinating and varied dive
sites. There is a huge variety of underwater life in this area ranging
from large shoals of batfish and jacks, yellow boxfish to soft corals,
blue-spotted stingrays to giant sea anemones with the cheeky clown
fishes, as well as grey reef sharks and whale sharks at Chumphon
Pinnacle and Southwest Pinnacle – two of the most popular deep
dive sites in the area.

Towards Koh Phangan is the famous site in the Gulf of Thailand -
Sail Rock. It is an enormous and deep site consisting of two central
pinnacles and featuring a dive through chimney laden with glass fish
and beautiful soft corals. Often with spectacular visibility of 30m
and more, this off-shore dive site attracts enormous schools of snapper,
batfish and trevallies to name a few.

Yet diving is not the only activity we do – explore
the surrounding paradise aboard our fibre-glass kayaks, help raise
our sails as we glide on our liveaboard dive boat from island to
island, snorkel with the reef sharks and smaller fishes, or simply
lay back, relax and soak up the warm suns rays!
